Music Education for the Modern World
Music Technology Club is part of the Education & Bass Group — a collective of educators, industry professionals, and creatives who believe in the power of music to inspire, engage, and transform lives. Our mission is to make high-quality music education accessible, inclusive, and relevant to the modern world.
We offer creative learning experiences that bridge the gap between the classroom and the real world, empowering learners to explore music production, composition, and sound design using accessible tools and expert guidance. Whether learners are just getting started or developing their skills further, our approach supports growth, confidence, and self-expression.
Built on the foundations of Education & Bass, which has been delivering innovative music and creative arts programmes across schools, colleges, alternative provision and online platforms for over 8 years, Music Technology Club continues this mission — with a specific focus on younger learners, especially those aged 11+

Andrew Ferguson
(aka Nomine aka Outrage)
Founder, CEO, Tutor
& Lead Safeguarding Officer
Andrew Ferguson is a music producer, DJ, sound designer and educator with nearly 30 years of experience in the music industry. Known to many as Nomine and Outrage, he has toured globally as a respected electronic music artist, released music on major labels, and collaborated with some of the scene’s most iconic figures. But beyond the stage and studio, Andrew has spent over 15 years working in education, building innovative, inclusive pathways for learners of all backgrounds. He holds a Master’s degree in Advanced Music Technology and a PGCE (a postgraduate teaching qualification), and is the founder of Education & Bass, a pioneering organisation that blends music technology education with real-world industry insight. Through Education & Bass, Andrew has designed and delivered programmes across the full spectrum of education — from primary and secondary schools to colleges, universities, and international youth projects, as well as alternative provision, prison education, SEND and SEMH settings. His work has reached learners across the UK and internationally, often engaging those most at risk of being left behind by traditional education models. Andrew also led and delivered degree-level Music Technology courses for almost seven years, helping shape the next generation of producers and music professionals. His unique ability to bridge the gap between underground music culture and formal education has made him a sought-after speaker, mentor, and course designer. The launch of Music Technology Club builds on this foundation — creating an accessible, inspiring space for young people to explore music production, composition and sound design using modern tools and platforms. Andrew believes music technology can open doors for all learners — whether they want to become artists, build confidence, or simply find a creative outlet.

Charmaine Freeman
(aka August)
Tutor
AUGUST is a singer, songwriter, producer and composer whose sound blends the soulful with the experimental. Her music draws from a wide spectrum of genres — from dream pop and trip-hop to jungle and dubstep — fusing leftfield drum programming and lush vocal harmonies to stunning effect. Based in Bristol, she brings the city’s rich musical heritage into everything she does. As well as being a rising artist with support from BBC Introducing, Spotify editorial, Worldwide FM, Reprezent and Rinse FM, AUGUST is also a passionate music educator and mentor. She is the founder of Bass Choir, an experimental vocal collective based in Bristol, where she also teaches and mentors young vocalists. Through this work, she helps others discover their voice, build confidence, and explore musical expression in a safe, collaborative environment. Her performances at venues like Bristol Beacon, The Mount Without, and Shindig Festival have earned her widespread acclaim, with comparisons to artists like FKA Twigs and Kelela. AUGUST is not only an exciting artist, but a committed educator who brings sensitivity, creativity and technical insight to her work with young people. At Music Technology Club, she supports learners in developing their own sound and creative confidence — whether through songwriting, production, vocal work, or simply exploring new ideas in a supportive space.

Our Story

Music Technology Club exists to make high-quality, real-world music education accessible, inclusive, and inspiring for young people aged 11–16 — wherever they are, and whatever their background or ability.
It is part of the Education & Bass Group, an organisation founded in 2016 that has delivered innovative music and arts education across the UK and internationally. Over the past eight years, Education & Bass has supported thousands of learners of all ages and abilities — from beginners to emerging professionals — and has empowered hundreds of music educators through training, mentoring, and practical tools to embed music technology confidently into their teaching.
At the heart of this mission is a personal journey. Andrew Ferguson (aka Nomine aka Outrage), founder of Education & Bass and Music Technology Club, has worked in education for over 15 years — but his story began much earlier. As a young person navigating the education system with undiagnosed learning difficulties and significant mental health challenges, he often felt unsupported. Music became a lifeline — a space for focus, expression, and purpose.
Despite those early challenges, Andrew went on to achieve a master’s degree, complete a PGCE, and lead a university-level music technology programme for nearly seven years. Alongside this, he has built a successful international career as a DJ and music producer, active in the industry for nearly 30 years.
Music Technology Club is a direct continuation of that journey. It brings together real industry experience, educational expertise, and a deep commitment to creating a safe, empowering space where young people can learn, grow, and express themselves through music. Sessions are delivered online using free, browser-based tools — so there’s no need for expensive equipment or software.
Whether someone wants to become a music producer, DJ, songwriter, beatmaker, instrumentalist, or simply explore creativity in a new way, this club offers more than just technical skills — it offers confidence, connection, and a real sense of possibility.
Welcome to the Music Technology Club.
